Annl, I say go with postal's advice - when you check in be polite (as I sure you would anyway!) and make any special requests, you might just get it! My husband & did recently checked into our travelocity "bargain" chatted with the desk clerk and found our selves in 2 bedroom suite with a fireplace for the same price as the simple double we had booked on-line. It wasn't NYC, but the theory is the same! Also, you may not want to do this because of the long distance charges, but I have also found calling the hotel directly a few days before arrival to inquire about a non-smoking room etc. was very successful. Anniel,I went through Priceline for my New York City hotel last November.I got the Inter-Continental
at the Barclay for $100 per night.
I called and asked for two double beds and they said it would be $50 extra per night but when we got to the hotel they upgraded us free of charge!Good Luck and have fun.Debbie
