New York French Bakery
My 6 1/2 year old and I will be playing in NYC for a few days next week while my husband is in a conference.
Looking for recommendation for the best french bakery to take her. Thanks in advance! |

Well, it would help if you told us where you were staying.
Manhattan is huge. But off the top of my head in the area of Madison Square Park to Soho--Eric Kayser, Laduree, Balthazar Bakery. There is a Whole Foods in Union Square that has pretty good bulk cookies and a terrific tiramisu. Levain Bakery on the UWS is highly regarded also. ThinL |

The good thing is that there's such a wealth of French-style patisseries in NYC that you can find one regardless of where you're staying.
Maison Kayser on Broadway near 59th is a convenient place with great pastries and bread and a sit-down cafe. I also like Laduree, but the new full-service bakery and cafe is in SoHo, not the one on the Upper East Side, which only has macarons and has no seating. And I've always been partial to Patisserie Claude since I lived downtown. |
