So glad you had a great time in NY.
I'm a native NY'er and still live here. My hubs and I went to the Guggenheim on Sat for the Kandinsky exhibit. The line was around the block and we didn't want to wait for hours (a bit cold out there). I was sooo disappointed.
But - we had a great day anyway.
How? Went to the Cooper Hewitt just 3 blocks away from the Guggenheim. Went into the Church of the Heavenly Rest 1 block away and looked at their stained glass windows which rival anything I've seen in Europe, had a cappucino at their cafe and were fortunate to hear an organist practice on thier massive organ.
Then on to the Met -which is pay what you want and just 5 blocks away. Have been there many, many times before, but there's so much that there's always something new, or something to review.
So, I am so glad you enjoyed New York. Our Sat. reminded me of just how lucky me and my hub are to have been born, grown up in, and live in this crazy, wonderful city.

Fabulous report- thank you!
I'm going to NYC for the first time ever in March, & am so excited. Everything you wrote was very helpful, as I really didn't know where to start with the planning.
We want to do lots of the things you did, & also have tickets for Lion King.
I especially loved your restaurant reviews, I think we'll be heading straight to 9th Avenue to eat!

Thank you Bradshawgirl1 for your fabulous report. Hubs and I (seniors) will be coming to NY in Sept w/our granddaughter (11-1/2) for 6 nights. We are very excited about it and will definitely be going to the SOL and Ellis Island, where, my brother was born in 1939... We are looking forward to seeing things we've missed in the past but will definitely walk the Brooklyn Bridge and visit Grimaldi's Pizza as we have in the past. This is a must which we always do when visiting. We have always stayed at a hotel in the past, when rates were much lower than now, and I did appreciate your posting of Homeaway.com. Since you were so happy with your choice, I'm wondering if you have the email or phone contact for the apartment you rented... Again, thank you for posting your terrific report with so much information and detail.

Thank you very much for your report- I am currently planning my first trip to NYC and your description of Ellis Island and the Public Library told me that this has to go on my list of things to do too!

I just stumbled upon this report and made reservations at Marseilles for a Saturday evening dinner. I'll be in NYC March 12 to March 14.
Trying to decide what show I want to see on Friday, March 12. Am leaning towards Lion King - have yet to see it.
