Hi, doesn't anyone have ideas for great consignment shopping in NYC? Second time round, vintage etc? I am heading there soon and love shopping at these shops ~thanks ~

Aer you looking specifically for vintage, or primarily for values? Regular high-end retailers in NYC are so desperate, their stores are currently offering deeply-discounted prices that normally are only seen in the consignment shops:

Remember, the merchandise that they are trying to sell this season was ordered months ago, before the economy started hurting so badly. Now the pricey stuff is a hot potato that nobody wants to get stuck holding on January 1. if selling at a loss is inevitable, it's better to minimize the losses than to get stuck with unsold stuff.

There are several small shops in the East Village. Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn I believe is one of the better ones. There are shops all over the city, some are more specialized with home furnishing, some with designer items, and then also the usual Goodwill and Salavation Army.
