Rates vary daily; post your exact travel dates.
Early in the month seems to be pricier. How many people and how many beds? What part of town? There are hundreds of hotels. |
It depends on where you want to go in December. I'd cast a wide net by doing a search on Hotels.com and see what comes up and then ask about specific properties. You're going to be more successful if you focus on particular areas, but if you aren't sure where you want to stay, realize that the heaviest concentrations of hotels are in midtown, both on the east and west sides, in the Herald Square area (the west 30s) and in Murray Hill (in the east 30s). There are a lot of hotels in other places, including trendy neighborhoods like Chelsea, SoHo, and the Meatpacking District, but they aren't as concentrated. There are hundreds of hotels in this price range, but December is one of the most expensive times of hte year to come to NYC.

Your dates will really make a difference. For 2 people you may well find something but if there are more of you that's a very low budget for most of December.
The Newton Hotel on the upper west side is a reliable budget property and seems to have some availability in December that even with taxes would fall within your budget. This is right on top of the subway so easy access to anywhere in the city. I would start looking now and see if you can lock in advance rates before any deals are gone. But without more info from you on dates, # of people and what you want to do. |
Try the Park lane hotel on Central Park south. They usually have pretty good rates.

The Park Lane is $450 on Dec 4 and $225 on Dec 18th, so as you can see, exact dates will help with recommendations.

Dates do matter.
The Row on 8th Ave. has basic but clean and modern rooms. Nice common areas. You're likely to get prices anywhere from $200-$400/nt, depending on the day. |
Thanks everyone. I have acquired a room.
