New York City: Dim Sum: carts only
Can you recommend a dim sum restaurant? I want one with carts.

Are there dim sum restaurants that don't use carts?
(never heard that one) |
I don't know about NYC, but sure, lots of Chinese dim sum restaurants don't use carts:
- The really high-end restaurants don't do it. A cart pushing around is not elegant, and food often sit in the cart for too long - Smaller (and less busy) restaurants don't do it as there's not enough business to justify having so much food sitting in the cart - Local ordinance may prohibit their use |
interesting, makes sense. thanks for answering my question. i always thought of carts as an integral part of the dim sum experience (obviously i was wrong).

So - still looking for recommendations of dim sum restaurants in New York you like and that use carts.

I believe I wrote this earlier today: For more detailed info on dim sum and the cart issue, do a search on www.chowhound.com. They cover that subject often and in great detail on their great web site. There are places in Chinatown that use carts and places that give you a menu.

There is a terrific one in Chinatown that is huge with lots of tables and carts. I wish I could remember the name. It's legendary.
