New York City
Planning a trip to Pennsylvania next summer. Just wondering if they have any tours leaving from Pennsylvania to tour New York City for a day or two?
We would love to see New York City, but don't want to drive into the city. And would love to see the sights of the City.

there's no need to drive or take a tour. Just hop an Amtrak train from Philly to Penn station. The tickets are fairly cheap if you buy them in advance and there's at least one train an hour for most of the day and evening. (If you are coming from elsewhere in PA have a look at local trains and how they would connect. Assuming you are staying in ester PA - if you're in the west, NYC really isn't a day, or even overnight, trip.)
If you prefer there are buses: Mega bus or Bolt bus, which can be even cheaper - but can take longer due to the vagaries of traffic. Whatever you do, don't take a chinatown bus. They have an abysmal safety record - including a number of deaths in accidents due to speeding/poor driving, unqualified drivers, and drivers working way too many hours in a row (and losing concentration or falling asleep - which is unclear).
Once here is incredibly easy to see the sights on your own. NYC is a town for walking - or subway for longer distances. And you really need to get inside places to see them - a drive around in a tour bus is, IMHO, not just very expensive, but a big waste of time.

Agree with above. I would avoid an all in one tour that included transport and sightseeing. You'll do better organizing it on your own. If you prefer a guided bus tour in NYC onboardtours.com does a good job.

There are also regular commuter buses into NYC from Allentown, so that might also be an option for you, but the train is definitely faster and pretty reliable. You can take SEPTA to Trenton, NJ, and then hop on NJ Transit, which is usually considerably cheaper and not much slower than Amtrak. And of course there are cheap buses like Boltbus and Megabus from Philadelphia. Beyond that, Amtrak stops in Lancaster, but if you are coming from somewhere else there are fewer options. It is indeed a big state.
