New York
Hi Fodor Guys,
I'm looking for secret gems of places, found this article, http://www.lifedaily.com/five-secret...-want-to-miss/ but wondering if anyone can tell me any other places to go to? thanks |
The High Line and Virgil's BBQ are not hidden gems, IMHO. They are very popular tourist spots.

The Chelsea Antique Bazaar.

Of course Virgil's is unknown. It is a mere 200 seat restaurant in the area of the city with most tourists that has been around for about 20 years ago and which I beleive is now owned by Eastern European immigrants.
The oasis down by Wall Street is worth at least 4 or 5 minutes and the Highline has been an instant success. ______________________________________ Take the number 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge. When they tell you to get off, don't. When the train turns around you will pass the now unused but one of the original NYC subway stations City Hall. If in that rare occurance, that the train heads for the yards, blame me. For lesser known restaurants Nai for tapas Calliope-hip American/French Cafe Magador-Morroccan Jeepney-Hip Filipino Mighty Quinn-Addictive BBQ, no table service and crowded on weekends (Neighborhood fav) Years ahead of Virgil's Clinton St Bakery-best scones and biscuits in town, table service, zoo on weekends (neighborhood fav) |
Thanks for the advice, very excited to be going there, will check out these places.
