New Years in Vegas
 

Hello all,

Can somebody make a few suggestions for hotels that would be right in the middle of the parties & fireworks for New Years eve? This will be a first trip to Vegas, and want to be in the middle of the New Years action...

Have you looked into hotels already? Don't know if you are aware but the prices skyrocket around New Year's Eve and some have minimum night stays. You can expect room prices from about $300 per night and up in the two or three days leading up to NYE, depending on where you stay. It will be a madhouse on NYE on the strip. The strip is closed to traffic from some point in the mid-evening until after midnight. There will be lots of revelers drinking and hootin and hollerin outside on the strip. I was at Caesaer's Palace and that seemed like a good area to be in if you want to be in the middle of the action. Hotels in that area, in addition to Caesaer's, include Bally's, Paris, Flamingo, Mirage, Bellagio, and Harrah's.

The party is everywhere, however there will be a massive crush of people at every turn & you will likely pay 3X or more the going rate for rooms & such. If you've not been before, I would seriously reconsider Vegas for New Years.

Try a search on the TripAdvisor Las Vegas forum, then post an inquiry. There are lots of seasoned veterans over there, and plenty of trip reports chock full of tips and recommendations.

I have never been there on NYE but I have friends who go every yr. They are an retired couple who always stay at the Riviera. They said on NYE the action is everywhere. At midnight they go out into the street and watch the fireworks. The shows start at one end and just move up the strip. As for the cost, the other poster is right. It is going to be very expensive, but if you do go, I think anywhere on the strip is going to be in the midst of the action.
