New Year's in Key West
My wife and our friends (all in late 20s) are heading to Key West for X-mas and New Years. Our itinerary is pretty much set in stone, but still have not figured out what we are doing for NY Eve. I see a lot goes on and not too sure where I want to be. I know of the conch drop. Can anyone recommend anything else or is this "the place" to be. We enjoy Irish Kevin's, any possibility of finding a seat there outside the drop, and if so, what time would we need to arrive in order not to be 2 miles from the drop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I did New Years In K.W. 5 years in a row- '96-'00! All in our late 20's, too. Let me tell you unless you want to get to a bar at 6 and stay there for 6 hours (good luck seeing the conch drop or anything else after 6 hours!) you will not get a seat anywhere. Duval is packed!! We usually had dinner at 5 on NY EVE so we could then go back to the hotel and get ready and not have to worry about crowds getting into restaurants! Then, we started mixing the beverages and headed out for the night. Just walking up and down Duval and going in and out of places was fun- all the excitment is on the street (kind of like Mardi Gras) The balcony atop Rick's is great for people watching! Be warned - bathroom lines are LONG and hard to find! You will have a blast! Denny's at 3 am on Duval is a scene on New Years! Great stop for that late night B-fast!

Thanks for the info. Didn't even think of the bathroom situation. LMAO. I think we shall do the crawl, hopefully figuratively and not literally. Thanks again.

Kinda off topic question...is Barefoot Bob's still in Key West? Was right on Duval, a deadhead bar/restaurant?

I think it is still there - I was there in Oct. and think I remember walking by it.
