new years eve new york

As far as the drinking age, how strict are new york bars during new years eve?

You'll probably be carded.

No bar in New York is going to risk having their alcohol license revoked.

You will be carded in virtually ALL bars and restaurants. All drinking establishments are extremely strict about this and more so on NYE. Per your hotel post, you are 19 and coming with your girlfriend. You don't say where you're coming from but, I hate to say this, you're travelling to NYC on NYE and you're 19 -- I just wouldn't do it. It's going to be very expensive, you can't get into any of the clubs or bars, theater tickets at this late date are going to be hard to come by -- I would wait until I was 21 if I were you. You'll have a much better time.

MichelleNYC is right. The bars and restaurants are sricter than ever on NYE. A group of us went out last year and one - who was 32 - and obviously over 21 - was carded at a restaurant before they would fill her wine glass. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get into any bars or clubs.
