New Years Eve Lake Tahoe

Hi Everyone,
We are heading out to Lake Tahoe for the holiday week, can anyone suggest any restaurants for a traditional Christmas dinner and the best places to celebrate New Years Eve and also the best place to rent snowboards.
Thanks :-)

If you're staying at a hotel or lodge give them a call. They may be a wealth of information for you.

What side of the lake are you on? That of course is only really important if there is bad weather. I'm sure the Hyatt and Incline does something, Squaw Valley, and others.

On which side of the lake will you be staying? You should rent snowboards near where you will be staying.

That was the Hyatt AT Incline. There are places all over to rent snowboards etc. but it's hard to be specific if we don't know what side of the Lake you want to be on.

Yes - where are you staying? Makes a big difference.

And what to do on NYE really depends on what sort of scene you are looking for. Unless you really want to be in a mass of humanity you might want to stay away from Stateline that night. Thousands of revelers show up and flood the main hwy at the casinos. The road is closed and getting around gets pretty insane. Sort of "Mardi Gras-ish" but w/ freezing temps and snow.

if you are staying at one of the casino hotels (Hyatt, Harrahs, Harveys, Caesars, Horizon) they all put on New Years parties.

Altitudes, right? The bar on the floor of Harrah's hotel/casino at south shore. Good place as any for NYE. Also, I like a woodsy lodge environment in Tahoe for NYE with family and friends.

Discount -$10 for Heavenly + Kirkwood actual ski lift tix sold at Albertson's grocery stores, outside of the Tahoe area.

Several equip. rental co.s have coupons, some are online. Check it. Your hotel should also have some conxns.

TIP: rent equip. the night before so that you all can arrive early and just GO. Nothing worse than having to wait at the resort for the one person in your group that is trying to rent equipment with 1500 other sheeple until 10:30 a.m. There's a line for this and a line for that, and then a final checkout line, and then - the lift itself.

If you're going to Squaw, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar, whatever - - - there's a ton of rental companies retailing on Ski Run Blvd. and on Hwy 50.
