New Year's Eve in Philadelphia

We are two Senior couples traveling from NYC for a few days in Philadelphia. Can you suggest some interesting and fun things to do on New Year's Eve? We love live music, good food, dancing and a fun atmosphere to celebrate the New Year.

I know this page is geared towards kids, but search thru and you'll get some ideas that don't involve a bunch of drunk twenty something's.

Have a nice dinner somewhere that is not charging $$$ for new yrs eve. Do you like Vietnamese? Highly recommend Vietnam restaurant in Chinatown. Best Vietnamese we have ever had.

The clubs and music in Philly are geared towards young people, very crowded, rowdy, lots of drinking. Seriously. Even the dueling pianos bar is full of 20 somethings.

Get a good night's sleep so you will be up early and rested for the Mummer's parade on New Yrs Day. If you are not going to the parade, be sure to go to the Mummer's Museum in South Philly and see what it is all about. You can combine that with a trip to the Italian Market area and get some good food items (go to DiBrunos) to take back to NYC with you, yum.

The Sheraton Society Hill deal sounds good for the price...

Thanks for the suggestions!

How about any recommendations for live music venues ( doesn't have to be on New Years Eve). In the past we have been to Warmdaddys and Ortliebs. Looking for something perhaps less commercial and more intimate which houses jazz or blues.

For live music on your non-New Years eve nights, check out what's happening at World Café Live, my favorite venue, or Tin Angel if you dine downstairs so you can sit in the front, or Paris in Chestnut Hill (I haven't eaten there but have enjoyed hearing jazz in the downstairs club). Also Kimmel Center previously mentioned is mostly classical but also hosts jazz and folk, check their schedule.
