New Years Eve in downtown Chicago

My wife and I are going to be staying in downtown Chicago for New Years Eve. We are in our mid-forties and are looking for some suggestions for somewhere to party.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Metromix.com was a great source of information. I made a reservation at Mike Ditka's.

Happy New Year!!!!

Yes, he will be performing that evening. We are looking forward to it. We are not counting on DA Coach being there, but that would be great if he was!!

Thanks again for all your help.

Just a quick question, my daughter & friends are staying at the Holiday Inn by the Market Plaza and will be attending a show at the Navy Pier's Family Pavillion. Should they attempt to drive and park there (Navy Pier) or will they be better off getting a cab? How easy will it be to get a cab to and from the Pier that evening? This hotel was picked because of the reasonable rates for New Year's Eve and somewhat close proximity.

Cabs will be very easy to get going TO Navy Pier. Coming home...it depends. Most of the time, we have no problems. Every so often, it can be difficult. I have never gone to Navy Pier for New Year's, but this could make it difficult. Having said that...parking at Navy Pier is expensive and I never like to drive in the city (espcially if we may be drinking). We always take a cab (and we live in Chicago)...
