New years celebrations in D.C?

I will be in DC between December 28 and January 4, 2000. Does anybody know if the city is planning any celebrations for the so called "New Millenium"?

The city recently said that it will be planning some celebrations, but no details have been released. Check back in a couple of months.

Actually, there have been a number of reports that the White House is in the midst of planning a massive December 31, 1999 celebration that will "outshine Times Square."

The sketchy details thus far have revolved around the raising of funds for the event, the cornering of Hollywood talent, etc. Something is afoot, details will come later.
Actually, the details are supposed to be coming soon. They will be announced on July 4th. And, as someone posted, DC is trying to beat the New Years festivities in NY.
