The only place I have been to for brunch is the Grand cafe, it was another GTG. Saturday brunch 8-2.30, 4-5 blocks to BART if somebody needs to go to an airport (SFO and OAK)

NeoPatrick

Not going to the GTG since we were just in SF a few weeks ago (but love reading these posts).
We found Pat's Cafe also (stayed at Columbus Motor Inn). We thought it was a great place for breakfast also, especially if staying in that area. (although the cable turnaround is only about a block away -- which is how we saw it)

I also ate at Pat's Cafe when we stayed at Columbus Motor Inn. Good breakfast.

OK-so it looks like we could maybe have breakfast at Pat's Cafe before Cat and ncounty head to the airport. Patrick, will you and Lee be joining us? I know you try not to rush Lee in the morning.

P_M-let us know know what you'd like to do for the day. If we meet for breakfast early enough, we'd still have plenty of time to do whatever you'd like. If you want to see something out of the city, then we might want to head out earlier.

I think we want a taxi to airport about 9:45 or 10:00. I guess 10 is fine for getting to the airport for a 12:05 flight? Is 9 AM OK to meet for breakfast?
Pat's Cafe is on Taylor, right where Columbus, Taylor, and Chestnut all cross together.
Who else is staying at the Columbus Motor Inn? And cat, I guess you're flying out of Oakland, not SFO?

Neo, my plans sort of changed so I am now flying up. I would love to share a cab but I am flying out of Oakland, which is not SFO, I don't think. I'm not really sure what the O is in SFO so I may be wrong. But either way, I will be up early and good to go for breakfast if you want.

Paula, I figured since I was coming back on Saturday now I should try to get to dd's soccer game at 3, especially since I missed the last few while I was out of town.

Lovie, to be honest, I didn't even realize it was a different thread until it was posting!

I was just trying to recap it all for whoever was confused.

As I can be.

So often!

Can hardly wait for all of it!

Cat: every airport has a 3-letter code. SFO is San Francisco airport, OAK is the airport in Oakland - on different sides of San Francisco, you can take BART going one direction to SFO, opposite direction to OAK.

LOL cat, I think some think we here in our state live in a State of Confusion!

SFO is the symbol for the San Francisco Airport. Do you plan on taking BART back to the Oakland Airport? We will get you unconfused on Friday..well unless we all have too much to drink at the GTG that is. I can hardly wait to see you!

You all are going to have such a great time. I'm so disappointed I can't make it.

Hello andrew8..my daughter and I were just discussing you and your dear wife not being in SF for this GTG..it would have been wonderful! Maybe next year if you two have more time we can hold a GTG in your honor.

>>unless we all have too much to drink at the GTG that is<<

Umm, I was sort of counting on that! AS long as I get poured into a cab in time to get my flight, I'll be okay!

Just a note for those packing. You might be surprised by the weather in SF! It is downright "hot" today. We just came back from lunch with Lee's sister-in-law and oldest niece at the Slanted Door at The Ferry Building. Wow is is warm, but of course it cools down at night. I haven't put my sweater on yet during the day here!

That would be very nice LoveItaly but I'm still very new here at Fodors.

Cat,
Do you have the same email? I sent you an email in regards to your friends Lyme.

I have been away from the computer all afternoon but am still hoping to hear some suggestions for Saturday besides breakfast.

Faina, I know you gave a few but I think I will email P_M and she what she'd like to do since she doesn't get to SF very often.

I did see a poster today that there is some celebration up at Coit Tower on Saturday -- various events and free elevator rides.
The farmer's market at the Ferry Building on Saturday is pretty great.

Andrew8, there are no "newcomers" or "strangers" for us California Fodorites! And we all know who you two are..you were at the wonderful NYC GTG. I just got home a few minutes ago, checked out the SF GTG thread and am now off to read your trip report thread! Wishing you both a relaxing weekend.

Patrick-Thanks for the ideas. I've actually never been up in Coit Tower and have always wanted to do the Farmer's Market but usually am not in SF on a Saturday.

Thanks for an update on the weather. I checked out the forecast a few days and was shocked to see the forecasted temps. I don't think I've never been in SF when it's that warm. Of course, I am sure it will still be a little cool on the boat ride but probably very pleasant instead of freezing!!

Hi Paula, and everyone else that is taking the boat tour, do bring some kind of outerwear.

I am wondering about shoes, sometimes the boats can be a bit slippery. Since toedtoes and I will not have a hotel room..well we may not be in the most elegant shoes for the evening GTG, lol.

Definitely heed LI's advice re outerwear. Our "present" one year at a SF sales meeting were windbreakers - in July. We laughed.

And, then we froze headed out on the water to Alcatraz.

PLEASE stay warm in October! No colds after this GTG, okay?
