New Orleans weather this weekend
We're planning to be in New Orleans this weekend, arriving Friday evening and flying home late afternoon Sunday. What's the local weather forecast? Watching the national forecast it looks like rain! How do you spend rainy days in New Orleans?
|
www.weather.com is pretty good for researching weather.
|
It's supposed to rain all weekend. Sucky time to be here, unfortunately!
|
When the weather is spooky, take a ghost tour or hang out at an old haunted bar like The Morgue or Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. Have fun!
|
Never go by the weather channel for here.It is so vague. I usually suggest going to www.wwltv.com for info. Their weather is pretty on target. They are saying we could get rain but they have said that for the last few days. Most of it is predicted for S of the city & spotty. As for things to do... there is the Aquarium,
Louisiana Music factory on Decatur usually has a band or musicians on Sat afternoons (free & inside),
Several nice museums near Jackson Sq ( Cabildo & NO Mint). It just depends on what you like. Have fun eating if nothing else!
Hey Allyson, you're "advertising" The Morgue again.
|
Two tropical storms in the gulf should spell LOTS of rain for the gulf coast.

I watched the weather this am & they aren't giving the storms much importance. Fay is headed towards TX which will put us on the east side of it. We will be likely to get some rain but they are saying it will be mostly towards the coast, S of the city.
Here is what they have said for the next couple of days.Doesn't look any worse than normal.Of course if Fay decides to make a change , who knows what we'll get. I wouldn't worry just bring an umbrella & prepare to eat!

OVERNIGHT/FRIDAY MORNING
Partly to mostly cloudy, mild, and muggy with a 50% chance for coastal showers and thunderstorms and 20-30% from the city to N of the lake. Bring a poncho just in case. It is very drizzly and muggy. However, New Orleans really lends itself to this kind of weather. Tour the Hermann-Grimma House in the quarter or Jackson Square, where many sidewalks are covered. This weather brings out the spookiness of the city. If it starts raining just take harbor in the many quaint shops or bars with music, it usually passes and if not - a little rain never hurt. Have fun! And don't forget Cafe du Monde!
