New Orleans Tours
My daughter and I will be in NO May 16-19 & want to tour the cemeteries. However, we don't want to spend a fortune, nor do we want to take all day.. Anyone got any suggestions on a good tour company? THANKS!

I doubt any company will cost you a fortune. They're all about $10-15.
|
I forgot to add that the $10-15 is for walking tours in the French Quarter. "Butt on a bus" tours may cost more.
|
The bus tours do cost a little more, but we took the Gray Line city tour and really liked it. They had a 10 minute stop at a cemetery that seemed to be plenty, and we learned so much history of the city that it was well worth it.

Gray Line has a two hour walking tour of the St. Louis Cemetery #1. It costs $18 for adults. They also have an overall city tour with a stop at a cemetary. This tour runs $23 and takes two hours. You can book at 800-535-7786 or check their web site at www.grayline.com/neworleans.

Have a good trip.
If you go around 10:30 am or 1:00 pm you can tour St. Louis 1 or Lafayette without a tour group. St. Louis 1 in particular - it is very small. 10:30 am & 1:00 pm there are about 8 different tour groups of 15+, so the place is very, very safe. Lafayette is larger (and I think more interesting...). I would recommend you go only at those hours, or with a group. Spirit Tours & Haunted History Tours are good bets - both have web sites - you can make on-line reservations at a good discount.
