Must be though. It's a big chain as well as holding company of many other chain restaurants.

Sorry to say that I dont think much of Deanies. Landries is probably better, but still just so so.

Acme is way better, and I only suggest Acme as a good place to try a little of everything at a reasonable price. It is really8 the OYSTERS and crazy ambience of the place that I (still) go there...cant beat fresh oysters and an Abita Amber draft!!

But if you want REALLY REALLY good seafood...there is NO WAY you can beat Drago's.

It is 10 or so minutes from downtown near the Lakeview Mall, but it is WORTH every bit of effort. I hate even to recommend it, because it is hard enough as it is to get in...always a waiting list...and THAT should tell you something.

One other thing...and I dont mean to hurt anyones fealings...but Mr. B's is about average as it gets in New Orleans. With SO MANY other great restaurants in that price range, I would recommend trying something else...such as NOLA, August, Cochon, Ralphs on the Park (which incidently is ROCKING these days with the new chef) etc.

Mr. B's was GREAT pre-Katrina and is about to reopen. Let's hope it's as good as it was.

I would never miss a chance to go to Mother's on Poydras for fabulous roast beef po-boys, great gumbo, incredible red beans and rice, gooey, moist bread pudding, and fat luscious brownies! Breakfast also terrific and a bargain. No atmosphere, but worth it.

We also like Port of Call for huge baked potatoes and burgers. Over on Esplanade in the Quarter.

Oh yes - Mother's - definitely on the list. I will have to try the brownies this time around :)

I went to NO for work a few months after Katrina and I was incredibly pleased to find Mother's open and packed with people :)

Yes, Jacques Imo's is open. There is a very small pickup truck parked right in front painted multi-colors with a small table and 2 chairs in the bed of the truck. It's the hit around town lately . . . if you don't want to wait, you can have dinner at that table. It's becoming quite popular!:)
