New Orleans Restaurant for Business Dinner
 

Will be in New Orleans this Marsh for a conference and need to plan a dinner at a good restaurant (preferably in the French Quarter) for 10-12 people. We have thought of Antoine's, but I am seeing some posts here that suggest it is overrated and may not be the best choice. Any thoughts or suggestions? We are open to types of food. We prefer someplace with a sophisticated atmosphere, good food and service. Price is not a great concern. <BR><BR>Thanks in advance for any advice.

I was in New Orleans at a convention last fall. We had two excellent dinners at Dicky Brennan's in the quarter. A very traditional steakhouse, the food and service were outstanding. The decor is typical, dark wood and leather. The wine list was superb, deep and broad with several impressive verticals. The steaks were wonderful and someone raved about the prime rib. The sides of various potatoes and veggies were also fresh and decadent. It was perfect for a biz dinner. We also had dinner at Antoine's and was very disappointed. We were seated upstairs and the restaurant was dated and the food mediocre for big bucks.

The restaurant at the Windsor Court Hotel is very impressive and excellent. It is quite expensive, but you said price doesn't matter. Great French/NO food, excellent service, ambience, etc. Some of the artwork there is reportedly quite valuable. In the French quarter. A great place if you're trying to impress your business clients.

Just FYI, the Windsor Court is not located in the French Quarter. It is in the Convention Center area. It's certainly sophisticated, but I personally find their dining room rather stuffy and pretentious.

A second for Dickie Brennans. Great business atmosphere, great tenderloin, great serice , good wine selection and just as the previous poster said. A perfect business dinner place in the French Quarter!

I've also eaten at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. For a group of 12 it might be a nice choice as I believe they have a few private dining rooms. They also had a nice wine list and, as with most of the Brennan restaurants, the service is very professional. <BR><BR>You might also look into the Pelican Club. It's a really nice continental restaurant just behind the old courthouse building.

We had a business dinner with 10 at DIckie Brennans. Good choice. The staff was super! Great food and atmosphere and easily handles large groups. Smaller rooms made it seem more &quot;private&quot; as well.

I once had dinner at Bayona and the one room was filled with a private dinner party -- about 12 or 15 people. Couldn't do better than that, unless this place has slipped in the last couple of years.

Not in the Quarter but how about Gautreau? Anyone eaten there lately? Bayona is always a good suggestion although recent visitors seem to prefer Herbsaint (her other restaurant).
