Breaking News. I'm not a Real Woman. LOL
I didn't mean to start oyster wars and cocktail sauce wars. Just a friendly suggestion to don't order large until you know you like the product. For what its worth both Acme and Felixs' serve cocktail sauce. One thing I find surprising is that NOLA doesn't celebrate the provenance of their oysters. They are generic. I enjoy comparing News England oysters. It is amazing the difference between farms within a few nautical miles. No fight over mignonette. Never developed a taste for it as I find it overpowers the delicate brininess. I do however favor the introduction of granita ice. Like I said I hope you love them. I didn't but wanted to. |
Disclaimer - I'm not a huge oyster fan. What is the difference between cold water and warm water oysters?

Oyster wars!!
Now there's a war I would love to get involved in! Inak, not trying to start a war, just wondering what it was about gulf oysters that turned you off. In my experience cold water oysters are smaller and brinier while gulf oysters are larger and creamier. I love them all. |
Oyster fans should try The Grey when in Savannah. The choices vary daily. Current on the website (but lagging behind in real days) -
OYSTERS (varies nightly) BLUE POOL, WASHINGTON FJORDLUX, WASHINGTON BLUE POOL, WASHINGTON HAMA HAMA, WASHINGTON http://thegreyrestaurant.com/dinner/ |
I just order the largest variety available.
Squeeze of lemon, dash of Louisiana hot sauce. |
One of these days I'll make it to Savannah. The menu certainly reads well!

I like Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House for raw oysters. It is on the corner across from Felix and next to Acme. Their oyster bar at happy hr is fun at Bourbon House I always meet people to talk with there. The oysters are $1 apiece at Happy hr., and are large and tasty. They do have a board where they write what specific types of oysters they have available that day.
I like the chargrilled oysters at New Orleans Creole Cookery at happy hr. |
