New Orleans - Omni Royal Crescent or Country Inn & Suites

Trying to decide between these 2. Omni is a bit higher daily rate. Country Inn offers breakfast, Omni doesn't. We won't have a car, so parking doesn't matter. Both offer WiFi. Trip Advisor lists Country Inns at #4 with 91% approval rate and Omni is # 25 with 85% approval rate.

Has anyone stayed at either and what insights might you share to help me make a decision? Omni looks a bit more posh and the room may be a tad bigger. I have Gold Elite Status at Country Inns so that may get be a slightly upgraded room. I have Gold Status with Omni, but that doesn't guarantee any room upgrade.

Thanks~

Neither are in the French Quarter. . close but not in. We always feel it is a shame to eat breakfast in the hotel in New Orleans, where there are so many really good places to eat.

Staying in the Quarter allows you to safely walk back and forth to the hotel and quarter restaurants. Outside the quarter can be dicey at nite

We realize that neither is IN The French Quarter but just a short walk away.

Iberville Suites is closed.
Monteleone is more than we wanted to spend.
Richelieu doesn't have room on one of the nights we need.

Thanks for the input in any case.

We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites last November. I injured my ankle while on a cruise, so my stay in New Orleans was spent in this hotel. It is s actually several old buildings remodeled into one hotel. Some of the room windows are actually inside, looking down at the lobby floor. We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very helpful. Nice selection at breakfast and there is a small sports bar with snacks at night. It is a short walk to the French Quarter and my family said they felt safe at night. If you will be there on a weekend, reserve early as they fill up on weekends. I haven't stayed at the Omni but would recommend the Country Inn & Suites. It is the nicest one of this chain that we have stayed in.

The Four Points in the French Quarter is a good solid hotel. You might check their rates. We asked for and got a room that was very quiet, overlooking the pool area in back ( the hotel fronts to Bourbon St but is also on a corner, so we just walked out and turned and it was like not being on Bourbon that way.). Had a great stay there during Jazz Fest a few months ago.
