New Orleans Music

Will be in NO April 6th thru 11th and was wondering where the best place to go for music. If anyone knows of something going on or who we need to see it would be great.
We like all kinds of music but would rather hear the local flavor.
Thanks.

Preservation Hall has arguably the best jazz in the world. They serve no drinks; they serve no food. You'll probably have to sit on the floor. But DON'T miss this place.

Yep - first and foremost, your fer-sure stop has to be Preservation Hall. You will be listening not just to music, but to a bit of history.

Definitely Preservation Hall! You can also try Tipitinas and the House of Blues (check their website for upcoming shows www.hob.com).

We also loved the house band at the Big Bad Wolf. Good old rock and roll!!
We had a wonderful time last week at the Mid-City Lanes Rock 'N Bowl. It is an old bowling alley that has a stage and dance floor. We went Wednesday and danced all night to a live swing band. On Thursdays they have zydeco, and Friday and Saturdays are mixed.
Very local crowd--few tourists.
