New Orleans in November

A friend and I are planning a trip to New Orleans for November 16th-21st. We are mid 20's, female, and like music and night life. We won't have a rental car so we are looking for hotels that are within walking distance or short cab ride of bars, clubs, and restaurants. Please help me with in-expensive hotels nearby, and I would LOVE to hear about some great night life that we need to check out while we're there!! Also, if any locals could tell me the best hole-in-the-wall joints to get some spicy fooooood!!! mmmm!

You definately want a hotel in the French Quarter. Some of Our favrites that are in the Quarter:

Dauphine Orleans http://www.dauphineorleans.com/

Iberville Suites http://www.ibervillesuites.com/

Monteleone http://hotelmonteleone.com/

le Richelieu http://www.lerichelieuhotel.com/

Stay in the French Quarter. There is plenty to see and do inside the Quarter, food, nightlife and shopping are all within a few blocks. Plan to wear comfortable shoes. You can do your research here by entering your destination in the search box at the top of this page.

You'll find good NOLA food ideas on my trip report from last year:

Definitely stay in the French Quarter, and I'd further limit it to be within the rectangle that encompasses Bourbon, Canal, and Decatur Streets and Ursulines Avenue. Outside of that area can be dicey, especially after dark.

We stayed at the Place d'Armes on our last trip. Centrally located, comfortable hotel, easy on the budget. We are staying at the Hotel Provencial for an upcoming trip. I agree with bachslunch's recommendation for the area to stay within the FQ.

I do like the FQ between Ursulines and Esplanade and then the Faubuourg Marigny, but it gets pretty quiet and residential out that way, and so there isn't a lot of foot traffic at night. The exception is Frenchman Street, which has some neat music clubs.

Hotel Monteleone. Oh, great local for walking (even alone) and great ambience. Love, LOVE the Hotel Monteleone. Carosel Bar - not a gin lover at all BUT: Pims Cup (with cucumber and lemonade)- one of the most refreshing drinks I have ever tasted.

Any comments about the best western

Rich Jul 29th, 2011 10:28 AM

Which one?

The only Best Western you would want is the one off of Canal, right across the Street from the FQ. I think the address is on Magazine St.
