New Orleans Hotels -reasonable?

Hi: I am looking for a hotel in NO for the
end of March and things are very booked. Any
recommendations for places <$200. A B&B would
be great if it was well located and not $300
per nigh

Try www.nawlins.com or www.nola.com for info on hotels/condos for rent.

Mark,

My husband and I are also going to New Orleans the end of March. Like you we found the hotels rates to be rather high. I did find Hotel Reservation Network on the internet, we contacted them and had good luck finding a room at what we feel is a very nice hotel for around 130.00 per night. You may want to give them a try. I put a note out on Fodors for feed back from other who have used them, and all have seemed to have good luck. So, we're giving them a try. Their address is 180096hotel.com.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Good Luck. Janine

Also try turbotrip.com. I got a hotel on Canal, 9 blocks north of N. Rampart, for $69/ night, 2 beds, includes continental breakfast! Try also the Sleep Inn & Travelodge sites (msn seach both). The Travelodge on Baronne St is excellent and directly across from Cafe Du Monde!

re: previous post

9 blocks north of Rampart on Canal is a TERRIBLE area. Also, the Travelodge is not anywhere near Cafe Dumonde..it's downtown in a fairly deserted area.

I agree with Jim. 9 blocks lakeside (north?) of Rampart is not a good area - you will definitely need cabs to come and go. Cafe du Monde is on Decatur. Baronne is about 4 blocks lakeside of Decatur on the uptown side of Canal - not even close to each other.

We went in Dec 6-10 and stayed at the Hotel Maison Dupuy - they were booked at the time I called so I e-mailed the Hotel Reservations Network 180096.hotel.com and they got us a room for those dates and the price was the same as getting it thru the hotel. Very nice hotel located in the French Quarter - walk to anywhere and a restaurant and lounge area, to rest after walking. they had a sm pool and courtyard area. They have a web site. Hope you have a great time. If you like oysters, go to the Acme Oyster house. Dot
