New Orleans Hotels for Final Four HELP!!!!!
I got lucky and have 4 tickets to the Mens Final Four 2012 in New Orleans. This was a lottery system and they just sent the emails out today.
Anyway, every single hotel I check is already completely sold out. Any suggestions?? I have tickets for 2 games on Saturday and the finals then on Monday night. I might just go on Saturday and let my parents have the ones for Monday night. I did find one place that required a 4 night stay and the rooms were going for over 500 a night. |
Check Vacation Rental By Owner's (VBRO) website for an apartment. You never know what's out there.
|
Look at B&Bs and book whatever you can get.
|
Get on kayak.com and pick one that doesn't say "call" and call fast!
Sort of hotels within .5 miles (or 1 mile if you are willing to walk that far) |
several options
1) keep checking as large hotels have blocks booked for tv people etc and sometimes rooms show up closer to the date 2) try the bidding sites - start with hotwire and as you get closer, again see if any rooms come up 3) Consider a distance away and paying for parking |
thanks
I did find something on kayak not far from the superdome |
Glad it worked out :-)

I since have found a B&B that looks interesting. 1896 Omalley House. It is like $10 a night more than the hotel. I could cancel the hotel.
Anyone stayed there. It's #1 B&B on TA. |
I think I'd choose based on walking distance and route.
|
I second 1896 O'Malley House.
1896 O'Malley House @ 120 South Pierce Street, New Orleans, LA 866 - 226 - 1896. http://www.1896omalleyhouse.com/ |
PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I am lucky on two counts and unlucky on one. I got 2 tix for my wife and I for the Final Four in NO thru the lottery, and second of all I am going to stay at my cousin's condo in the French Quarter for free! WOOO! However, I waited too long for airline tix and the cost went way up beyond affordable for us...SOOOO...I am going to be staying from March 30 through April 3 on the corner of Bourbon St. and St. Peters St. Can anyone tell me WHAT kind of option I have for parking my car once I get there and leaving it until we are ready to go? We will just walk and use public transport once there but I have no idea how to get in at around 11pm at night and park close enough to walk to the condo.
Thanks for any help! |
Park at the airport and take a taxi in?
Some hospitals where I have lived have parking lots that are actually public lots that give discounts to patients and visitors. They are staffed 24/7. Check Touro. Hotel parking is expensive, but less usually if you don't in and out. Do any hotels have parking for non residents? |
Thanks, Ackislander...that's a great idea! The airport website says it only charges a maximum of $13 per 24 hours too! But, then that leads to taxi questions. Do you or anyone here have any idea how much a standard fare would be from the airport to the closest walking access point in the middle of the Quarter?
|
I read on TripAdvisor a few days ago that the taxi fare from the airport to hotels near the French Quarter was a flat $33. Definitely verify that, but you might check TA as well.
|
Ackislander............are you suggesting a visitor park in a hospital parking lot taking up space for family's of patients. Surely not.
|
Public Lots would be the key phrase not hospital
|
What about cruise ship passenger parking, then a taxi to the French Quarter?

Drop your stuff at the hotel, head uptown, find a legal spot on St. Charles ave far enough uptown so there's no meter, lock up your car, put all visible stuff in your trunk, take the streetcar back to the Quarter and voila! Free place to park!
|
BKD, How far uptown on St. Charles would I need to go to stop being metered parking? And thanks for all the help everybody!
|
I would say past Jackson Ave. I'll keep an eye out on my way home tonight and let you know.
