New Orleans Hotels, etc.
We are planning a trip to NO the first week of April.
We will not have a car and am looking for nice but reasonable (preferably under $150/night) lodging in or near the French Quarter. Is Uber, Lyft, taxi, etc. the best way to get to and from the airport? I will be updating for additional recommendations, but want to get this settled first. I get overwhelmed processing too much information at once...lol |
DD & her boyfriend were in NO for a music festival a few weeks ago -- Uber from airport to French Qtr was approx $35.

Janet, check out my trip report - I went last Dec.
https://www.fodors.com/community/uni...e-big-easy.cfm We stayed at the Hyatt Centric, a very good location. My biggest tip is to check out Frenchmen St. and give Bourbon St. a pass (after a once-over). The music was my favorite part of the trip! |
Taxi and Uber/Lyft from the airport all cost about the same, so just use whatever you like best. Taxis are a set price of $33 or $35. The taxi queue is right outside the arrivals exit, Uber/Lyft are in the parking garage about 100 yards away.
For your 1st trip to New Orleans, I'd stay in the FQ itself. Place d Arms is centrally located and is a neat hotel. See if you can get a courtyard room. Also check Villa Convento, Chateau LeMoyne and Hotel Provencial. French Market Inn, the Prince Conti, and Hotel Richleiu are also well-recommended, but I havent stayed at any of those. |
My husband and I stayed here two years ago. Looks like it fits your criteria. We walked most everywhere we went. Hope you have a great trip. We love NOLA.
