Does anyone have any feedback on the Pontchartrain Hotel in the Garden District <BR>of New Orleans? How does it compare with Le <BR>Pavillion? Thanks

I'd personally stay at neither, since they aren't located very close to the French Quarter. If I HAD to pick (at gunpoint, perhaps!) I'd choose Le Pavillon because the Pontchartrain hasn't been maintained very well.

The Pontchartrain used to be one of the city's "grande dames" but I don't think it's even a three-star property these days. Le Pavillon is quite popular because the rates are good...the rooms can be tiny but the lobby is very beautiful. Larry is right in that neither is overly convenient if you're visiting the Quarter, but that may not be the focus of your trip. Good luck!

I stayed at the Academy Plaza Hotel, which is down the street from the Pontchartrain. I got a X-mas rate of $59/night at the Plaza. The room was okay--it did have a full size frig which was nice, but it was less than clean and needed some work--but for the price, I could not complain. The Pont. looked pretty old. I spent a few days in the Garden District and a few in the Quarter. I liked staying in the Garden District--loved walking the steets and looking at the wonderful homes.

We have reservations at the International House. I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there.

We stayed at the International House about a year ago. The room was great, but then it was the penthouse suite so it should be. We really enjoyed the hotel, great bar, Loa (a really nice lounge that provides for great people watching) and a wonderful restaurant, Lemon Grass.

We just returned from NOLA and stayed at LaPavillon. It was a gorgeous hotel and our room was gorgeous, romantic (but small). During the day we walked everywhere. It's only about 3 blocks from Bourbon. However, we cabbed it at night because you have to cross Canal. The concierge there (Podi) is wonderful!
