New Orleans Hotel help
 

I've been reading the posts and have received some great info on hotels. But I still have some questions. This is our first trip and we want to be in the French Quarter. Found some good prices on a few hotels and am curious as to your opinions of the hotels, including thoughts on location.<BR><BR>Prince Conti<BR>Astor Crown Plaza<BR>Holiday Inn-Chateau Le Moyne <BR>Hotel St. Marie<BR>Hotel Monteleone <BR>Wyndham Bourbon Orleans<BR><BR><BR>Or is there a comparable hotel around $150 you can recommend? <BR><BR>Appreciate your help.<BR>

The Monteleone won me this past May with a glass of champagne and I waited to check in. Everythintg was spot on about the hotel throughout my 5 night stay. Excellent coffee brought to the room very early, phones answered promptly and courteously, room kept very well for an old hotel, the interior design (my business) well done and not too over the top....Across from Mr. B's. We liked the bar in the hotel very much..I'd stay there again without much thought...I felt it offered good value for New Orleans.

Is second the Hotel Monteleone. We stayed there in Oct. and it was great. Very friendly staff and great rooms.

Monteleone or Prince Conti are both excellent (if you can get in).

My vote goes for the Monteleone as well. Stayed there a couple years ago and loved the location as well as the hotel itself.

Definitely the Monteleone..it's old quarter and very well located. We have, for three trips now, stayed at Lafitte's Guest House (Bourbon&amp;St. Phillip). It's not a hotel but a B&amp;B. We haven't been in a few years but have always enjoyed it.

The Monteleone has always been known as a hotel with style. My parents stayed there in the 1950s &amp; it was elegant then too. The Carousel Bar is something different as well. If you want convenient, charm &amp; courtesy then I vote for it too. Our company had its Christmas party there one year &amp; the rooftop is nice as well. I believe there is a pool there.

We stayed at the Monteleone in September and loved it. We booked it on the net for less than $100 a night. It's location is where you want to be and everything about it says &quot;class&quot;. On our Silver Wedding Anniversary we returned to the room to find Champagne, chocolate strawberries and a lovely note from the Management waiting for us.<BR>We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when we return to Nawlins,<BR>Dave

Am just home from a 4 night stay at the<BR>Chateau Le Moyne which was very clean<BR>and well appointed....(it doesn't seem a<BR>typical Holiday Inn tho, part of that chain). My very favorite place to stay<BR>in the Quarter is on Royal, but we got this reservation with Mileage Points<BR>and the location was fine (we looked out<BR>to the big neon Monteleone sign....so<BR>they're close to each other)...seems<BR>you can't go wrong with either. Even tho, we weren't staying there, the Carousel Bar in the Monte is easy for anyone to enjoy. Have fun!

Hi Alex, I have avoided answering this post, as I have answered others similar to it and my answer is generally the same. I love the Bourbon Orleans. Was just there again over the Halloween festivities and had another great stay. I was even bumped up to a room with a balcony. I was VERY happy about that. Anyway, I have always found them to be very helpful and courteous. The location cannot be beaten, in my opinion. Right on Bourbon St., and behind St. Louis Cathedral. The rooms are a little &quot;worn looking&quot; at times, but have always found them to be clean. Unfortunately I have not stayed at the other hotels you have mentioned. I would however also suggest The Omni Royal Orleans and The Place D'Armes as nice, oftentimes, reasonably priced hotels in the quarter. (The Omni moreso, if you belong to one of the discount clubs.)<BR><BR>Have Fun!<BR><BR>Chazz

Just stayed at the Astor this past October and really enjoyed it. Especially the location. Pretty new and good service.<BR>But, if I had my choice, I'd give The Monteleone a shot. A bit more New Orleans.<BR>Kal

Lets see... of your list I'd say the Bourbon Orleans for location, theirs is hard to beat if you truly want the center of the quarter. My favorite is the OMNI Royal Orleans and the Soniat House which is much smaller. In the bargain category I'd suggest the Le Richelieu on the quieter end of the quarter. The Monteleone is actually family owned and keeps growing. Chateau Sonesta is pretty nice too.
