New Orleans - hotel advice
My sister and I (both late 20's) are taking a roadtrip in mid-May with a stop in New Orleans. Our mother will be meeting us there for a 2-day visit which falls on the weekend and we are looking for a hotel that:
(1) Is fairly inexpensive -- my sister and I will be staying in lower-cost hotels during the rest of our roadtrip but are willing to "step it up a bit" for this stop. However, we would prefer to pay under $200/night for a room. (2) Is in a "good" neighborhood, both in terms of safety and location. (3) Is preferably part of a hotel chain or has a well-known reputation. When traveling alone I prefer to stay in independent, quirky hotels but my mother isn't quite so adventurous and I would like her to feel comfortable. Can anyone offer some suggestions that meet the 3 stipulations above? Thanks in advance! |
We recently stayed at the Best Western St. Charles Inn, which is in the Garden District and right on the streetcar line, giving easy access to Bourbon Street and other attractions.
The rooms are pleasantly decorated, the desk staff is friendly and helpful, retaurants are nearby, and parking and a light breakfast is included in the room rate. HTTY |
Ramada Inn on Bourbon or the Dauphine Orleans are great places right in the center of the Quarter. If you have a car, be sure to check how much parking adds to your cost.

Not part of a chain, but Le Richelieu In the French Quarter is a good place to stay, with a convenient location, good service, reasonably priced and provides the only free parking in the French Quarter.
