New orleans help please?
 

Planning my trip was hopeing for some help. First is 4 days 3 nights a fair amount of time to see most major sights?<BR>Would anyone recommened the Royal Sonesta hotel? and last booking online with Expidate

There isn't much to see New Orleans.. There's the French Quarter and the Garden district. Four days is PLENTY of days to see NO.

If you can spend more time in New Orleans, I would add another day or 2. I guess it depends on what you are interested in and how much time you spend at each site, but my husband and I were in NO for a week and we didn't see everything we wanted to. We had a blast though and are planning to go back. <BR><BR>We didn't stay at the Royal Sonesta, but I have heard good things about it. <BR><BR>I've booked a hotel room once on Expedia and it was fine.

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta 4 years ago and loved it. The room was lovely and very comfortable. My sister was there during the superbowl and she had only good things to say about it. It's also in a great location in the French Quarter. I recommend a room overlooking the courtyard/pool area; it's quiet and a pretty view.

There is plenty to do in NOLA. There is music galore, day and night, jazz, blues, rock, and more. Food? Famous eats from Po' Boys to fine cusine. Walking tours of outstanding neighborhoods and wonderful architecture. Garden District lodging, cable car runs and walks to the Mississippi. Outlying areas offer even a different view, including historic sites, battlefields, and museums. There is the D-Day museum, oddball shopping districts, a new casino, and lovely parks for picnics. We loved spending the day out in the &quot;country&quot; touring plantation sites, and another day on a great swamp tour (believe it was the 'Honeybee' or something similar...nature preserve area). We even enjoyed the zoo. We went to the French Quarter Festival last year, had marvelous bargain lodging in the Garden District, and had three of our seven days lolling at the festival listening to music and eating delicious food. What fun! New Orleans is a great American City...take your time and enjoy the Big Easy. Our party of four adults LOVED it.

i have stayed in the royal sonesta. It is a good hotel with a good location, 1/2 block from the french quarter. enjoy!!

The Royal Sonesta is in the middle of the French Quarter on Bourbon Street. It's a great hotel in a great location. The amount of time you'll want to stay in New Orleans probably depends on the time of year you're there. If the weather is good, 4 days is fine for a first visit, though I've been going for over 40 years and still find new things to do each visit.

I am going to New Orleans in two weeks, (for one week) and have just posted my itinerary for comments and suggestions. You might find something useful once I (hopefully!)start to get some answers.

happytrails - I think it's Honey Island swamp tours that you are refering to. I've never taken a tour with them, but I have heard good things.
