New Orleans fried food!

After being on the South Beach diet for 3 months it is time for some serious fried food (softshells and oysters). I will be staying on Canal and I really don't want to travel down to Casamento's. I normally do not eat fried while in NO but this tome I'm going in for some serious grease. Any suggestions within walking distance or the Marriott? Thanks

My friend swears by the fried oyster po'boy at Cafe Maspero - 601 Decatur St.

we like the fried oysters at Acme Oyster. I believe it is also on Decatur. They also have raw oysters and boiled crawfish, but they won't be on your diet as they aren't fried!!!

Hey thanks,
Acme sometimes has a long line but I might try and slip in and sit at the oyster bar and watch'em shucking. Help me think, does Acme have softshells? Years ago we used to go to the Pearl for fried food.

I like to Po'Boys at the Royal Cafe and enjoy sitting on the second story gallery watching the street life below.
