New Orleans bus concerns

I am making my first post huricane trip. I have always, in the past taken the Jefferson E2 airport bus to Elk, never needing a more costly cab. I see now you have to connect with a RTA bus at Carollton. My question- is this a safe area to wait for a bus?? I will be there probably between 5-6pm and don't want to consider taking ANY chances.

There is no way I would even attempt that. However, if you're connecting at Carrollton & Claiborne (the start of the St. Charles line), it's an okay (not good, not bad) area. It will take FOREVER to get downtown, though. The St. Charles line is slow and stops often.

My daughter lives off Carollton, BQ. She's closer to St. Charles, but she knows that area well, and has college friends who use the busses. I'll talk to her and get back to you asap.

Yes, it is safe,(there is plenty of traffic-both foot and car in that area), but buses are not running as frequently as pre-Katrina. You might want to opt for the cab.
