New Orleans - 2 Day Must Sees
If you only had 2 days weekend in New Orleans, what is on the MUST SEE list?
We like museums, history, music, food, activities, opera, gardens, , opera, theatre, jazz, cultural activities, art. We are not interested in amusement parks zoos, or places we can't get to easily by transportation or walking. WE wil be staying in the Business District, a few minutes from the French Quarter. |
This topic has already been discussed to death on this forum. Enter New Orleans in the search box and you'll find lots of suggestions. On my favorite list for only 2 days would be:
-D-Day Museum -N.O. Museum of Art and City Park -A night listening to Dixieland jazz -Aquarium -A few hours wandering around French Quarter -St Louis Cathedral and Cabildo -And check into the local theatre scene when you get there. You could probably get tickets if there happen to be any performances scheduled. I believe you could also find a bit more by looking into the local newspaper's pages. It's the New Orleans Times-Picayune and you can get it on line. Good luck. |
HI Wayne, thanks for your suggestions.
I did do a search for "New Orleans" before I posted. I got posts for only Hotels and restaurants, not Top sites for 2 day (see below). Hi kittycatangel,
I've been to the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park and enjoyed it very much. Also check out: http://www.neworleansmuseums.com I would also include a trip to Cafe du Monde for beignets and coffee. Just be sure to watch your belongings. |
Spend most of your time in the French Quarter, just people watching, and listening to the street musicians, they are great. We enjoy just sitting at Cafe Du Monde, or any where around Jackson Square, the music is really good. The Garden District is beautiful, self guided walking tour. Ride street car, eat lots of wonderful food. Be careful at night. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Also River Walk is very pretty, dinner cruise on the Mississippi is nice also.

No one ever mentions the Ogden -- the absolute finest museum of Southern art in the US. Don't miss it.
