new Orleans: 1st year anniversary

We're planning on going next month for our 1 year anniversary. At the moment restaurants we are thinking of eating at are: Nola, Bayona, and Jacque Imo's. For lunch we will stop by Central Grocery, Camilla Grill and Uglesich's. We would like recommendations for nice romatic bars, a jazz club for after dinner, and somewhere for a great breakfast not Cafe du Monde. Thank you so much!

Hello, keli. You should consider Quarter Scene in the FQ for breakfast. Everything on their menu is terrific. No liquor, so if you're thinking of a Bloody Mary or Milk Punch as a "go with", you'll have to bring your own makins. No corking fees are charged, though.

Uglesich's and Camilla grill were two of our favorite places to eath when there last month. You don't mention Mildred's which we really liked right off Jackson Square for lunch or dinner. Very nice place. If you go there, ask them if their upstairs area is being used at the time. If not, ask if you can go up and look around. They have private rooms that are gorgeous with fabulous antiques and balconies with great views of the neighborhood. Bayona was very good also. We enjoyed the piano bar at the Hotel Monteleone later in the evening, they have a bar there that has a rotating carousel in it (cool!) and the piano player is quite good. He only plays certain nights. Have fun! The good thing about New Orleans, it is hard to find BAD food! The only food we weren't crazy about was Red Fish Grill (not bad, just OK) and Deanies (sp?. Loved Stella (best fois gras I ever had), and Galatoires also. p.s. Be prepared to wait in line at Uglesich's and Camilla Grill. Worth the wait, but we waited over an hour twice for Uglesich's and just under an hour for Camilla Grill.

I just returned yesterday from a 3 day trip to New Orleans with my girlfriend. It sounds like your research is off to a good start. I highly recommend these restaurants: For dinner, Bella Luna (great view/romantic), Arnauds & Emerils. For lunch, Central Grocery & Mr. B's Bistro. For breakfast, Camilla Grill, and of course, Cafe Du Monde. We ate at all of these places and were not disappointed. If you're looking for the best LIVELY club, check the Maple Leaf. As for romantic things to do, be sure to walk along St Johns Bayou and ride the ferry over to Algiers. We also thoroughly enjoyed walking along Royal Street and browsing through all of the art galleries. Have a great trip!
