We are on our way to New Orleans and would like to try a great "new" restaurant. In the past we have really enjoyed Bayona, Irene's and Brigstens. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you mean new to you, recently opened, or just something besides the Old Guard restaurants (like Antoine's)? I, too, have enjoyed Irene's and its casual atmosphere. You also might want to try Bella Luna with a lovely view overlooking the Mississippi RIver, or perhaps Mr. B's Bistro with a cozy, dark atmosphere.

OK, Kal, 'fess up. What did you like about Bourbon House? I've been 4 times now and have not once thought it was great yet I read about it in national food magazines. It frustrates me that maybe I just don't get it.
Muriel's is very good. It's a nice surprise.
My favorite these days is still Rene' Bistrot although Chef Rene's other place, L'Cote, is just okay.

Dan-O,
Nuthin' to 'fess!
To each their own, bragh.
Remember, I still don't "get" Kauai!
But, we walked up to BH with no ressies, party of 6 (got to meet the lovely FFF "bonmar" and her hubby for dinner) and got seated immediately.
Seated us upstairs in one of the "library type" rooms. Very nice.
Service was hustling and attentive.
I recall that the bisque was outstanding, and I think I had the dbl cut pork chop while Mrs Kal had the brick chicken. Both were outstanding.
I also heard moans from our dining companions so I assumed theirs was as good.
I think we ordered all sorts of deserts and shared.
All in all it wasn't that expensive either.
How do you like NOLA's?
I feel like the odd man out there. We loved it.
One of THEE best meals/service I've had in NOLA yet I see it getting ragged on from time to time. Go figger'!
Remember, Hank Aaron never hit a home run every time up!
I'd kill for a "Godzilla meets Green Fried Tomatoes" at Jacques-Imos right now, tho!
