New Orelans Hotels off peak?

Which hotel would you choose in December prices are all pretty good due to the fact that it is off peak?

We are first timers to New Orleans we are 32 and going with another couple. We would like a hotel in or near the quarter right in the action to experience all we can. Thanks

Ramada Inn on Bourbon - it might not be the classiest place in town, but it's located near the center of Bourbon St. making it possible to walk most places you'd want to go. Spring for a Bourbon St. balcony room and enjoy the sights and people going by.

Use Priceline to get a great price in the French Quarter.

I've stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans - two blocks off Bourbon - close to Jackson Sq. Very convenient to Bourbon but away from the noise. Royal St. shops just outside your doorway. The Mississippi just a few blocks away. Walk to great restaurants too. There is way more to Orleans than Bourbon St. Great food, street musicians, cable cars etc. Don't limit yourself to Bourbon or you will have missed out.

Is the Royal Sonesta or the other well known hotel right on the quarter worth the extra money?

Thanks

No matter where you decide to stay be sure and ask for Papa Noel rates...they're less expensive.

Have stayed many times at the Royal Sonesta and loved it. Close to everything.
Susan: What are Papa Noel Rates? New one to me. Thanks

Here's another vote for the Royal Sonesta, which is my husband's and my current favorite hotel in New Orleans. I've never used the Papa Noel rates since we've never been to NO during the Christmas holidays, but they're a seasonal lure for visitors to the city. Like other discount hotel rates, I think you have to request them; I don't think they're offered otherwise.

Is Dec. the off season time for NO? When is there high season, Madi Gras of course. I would love to visit this city but it always seems so pricy. Flying from NE.

Has anyone stayed at the Iberville Suites? It is only $109 with breakfast and supposedly the sister hotel to the Ritz Carlton. We were told that we should be able to get a room just about anywhere this time of year. Thanks

Off-season in New Orleans is the summer months because of the humidity. The hotel prices are much lower, but it really is steamy then!

To xxx - regarding traveling to NO from NE - don't know where you would fly out of but airfares from Logan generally run around $225 when booking in advance. I've seen airfares as low as $178 recently. Hotel rooms can be had for as low as $90 upto $400. Personally I found it to be rather reasonable to travel too. Went last year in Feb after Mardi Gras. Trying to go again this year - also after Mardi Gras. Love this city!!

xxx- quality, reasonably priced hotels and food are available in NO. I don't think that it is more (and it is probably less) expensive than cities on the east and west coasts. Regarding off season pricing, if you can't stand the heat of the summer, I can vouch for having stayed at the Ritz last January for $99/night.

Flying out of Phl. Always seems very high. Pehaps EWR would have better prices.

Do a search here for "Christmas" under Louisisa. You will find a lot of New Orleans information about just what you're wondering about.

Hi,

I have been two New Orleans a few times and would also suggest staying in the quarter. One time got a great rate at the Sheraton on Canal and New Years last year we did a priceline bid and were at the Fairmont, with a rate of 140 and the room was quite large (4 of us) Also, can try the B&B route, don't that a few times as well. It won't be total luxury but nice, clean rooms, one place that the owner is so nice is the Gentry House Bed and Breakfast, 1031 St. Ann (504) 525-9102. Went there with 12 other friends to celebrate some birthdays and it was about 80 per person for three nites! We did have all the rooms in the place though....
Have fun, it is a wonderful city!
I live in New Orleans and have never heard of the "Papa Noel" rates, but you can ask. Off-peak season is indeed July, August, and September.

There are tons of hotel rooms in the city. You really want to be in the Quarter - not Convention Center area. The ones that have been mentioned are good. Unfortunately, I never stay in a hotel here, so I'm not much help any pricing.
