New Nantucket Restaurants?

We're heading to Nantucket in September. I've heard there are some new restaurants. Does anyone have any information?

Changes in ownership and management is the real story. Chanticleer, the well-known French restaurant in Sconset, is now operated by the couple that owns Black Eyed Susans, very popular with tourists. They had a background in fine dining before that and are committed to a good product, just not great French. No reviews yet.

Vincents, a spaghetti and pizza house in town, is gone and another fine dining restaurant is in its place.

At the moderate end, Slip 14 has replaced the place that replaced Eat Fire Spring Cafe on the wharf; we ate there once, and it is good for a low to mid-end restaurant. We will go back. There have been changes of chef at Oran Mor and at Toppers at the Wauwinet.

A recent article in one of the local papers pointed out that there are not enough fine diners for all the ambitious restaurants that are opening, and some will surely fail. At the same time, there are not enough moderate (much less cheap) restaurants for the number of people who want to eat in them. So it goes.

Thanks for the detailed response. We love Black Eyed Susans, so maybe we'll try the new Chanticleer. I'll check back for reviews before we go.

Hello
Just returned from our annual 2-week trip to ACK. You've already received alot of great info -- here's a little bit more.
An early dinner at THE GALLEY restaurant (located at the Cliffside Beach Resort) will be one you'll never regret. Take a 6:00pm or 6:30pm reservation, and you'll eat dinner while watching the most beautiful sunset, all with your toes just inches from the sand. We've gone to ACK for years, eaten everywhere numerous times -- this was an experience not to be missed.
Also highly recommend drinks or lunch at The Summer House -- we stay at the Summer House every year -- it's our favorite place.
Pearl is also a great restaurant, with a trendy "Miami" vibe to it-- unusual for this island.
Reservations very important .. you can't call soon enough. Places book up quickly.
Have fun !!

Ackislander, what's replaced Vincents? Thank god, I always thought Vincents had the worst food and was a complete waste of real estate.
