New Mexico
We too are going to New Mexicon first week in April. Need some suggestions for accomodations in Albequrque and Sante Fe. We prefer smaller more personal hotels in the low to mid price range. It is just my husband and myself. Any suggestions?
|
Can you be specific as to the actual $$ amount for room per night?
Also, "smaller more personal hotels" -- does that exclude chains? Do you want B&B? Are you willing to do Priceline? Will you have a car? Do you want to be near to the Plaza in Santa Fe, or are you willing to have to drive into Plaza? I have suggestions, but need more info from you. |
In Santa Fe check out the Inn of the Governors.
|
That would be my recommendation too, or El Ray Inn but not knowing how much she wants to pay per night, she may be better off $$ wise on Cerrillos Road.
|
$$- around 100-125 (less if ok too!) We typically do not like to do chains, unless it is something special and reflects the area. we do like smaller hotels/inns and b&B's.
Yes we will be renting a car...we fly into albeq. No priceline. we've had poor experience with them. I usually use hotels .com and look for their 24 hour sales. Thanks for your help! Have not begun my research about sante fe yet, but i think it would be nice to be walking distance from the center of town. |
Take a look at Garrett's Desert Inn for Santa Fe. It's near the Roundhouse and a short walk from the Plaza.

thanks. also if we plan to spend 2 nites in albugerque and 5 in santa fe does it make a different where we are on the weekend?
|
What kind of things do you want to do in each city? That might influence what days you spend in which city.
I see you started another thread for ABQ hotels, will answer there. |
do you know anything about a b and b in santa fe named casa pacifica, in the railyard section.?
|
I don't know of the place.
Did you read some of the reviews on tripadvisor? A lot a similar complaints. I am leary because there is no website and the street that the house is on is pretty busy. The Railyard area isn't all that great and it is a bit of a walk to Plaza. I don't think I would stay there. My 2 cents.... |
They do have a web site casapacificabnb.com.
Do you know of any b and b's you would recommend? |
<i>"...but i think it would be nice to be walking distance from the center of town.</i>
Yes, especially as a first time visitor. But, the issue with that is that rates go up the closer you get to the Plaza. We visited Santa Fe with friends several years back who stayed at Pueblo Bonito. We walked through the common area(s), saw their room.... Cozy-homey little place, about a 10 minute walk to the Plaza. Our friends thought it was fine. Not too far from there is El Paradero. We haven't stayed there, but walked by it a number of times; looks nice enough. But, I'm betting you'd prefer something with a more southwest adobe look. To your question about when to spend the 2 nights in Albuquerque.... I'd be surprised if rates increase during the weekend, wherever you end up staying, but if they do, it would be in Santa Fe. |
Inn of the Governors - right off the plaza. I plugged in a date in Early April $145 with full breakfast for 2 queens, a king is a bit more. Great location, walk to plaza in less than5 minutes.
http://innofthegovernors.com/ El Rey -- price from $84 to $140. Short drive to Plaza: quirky, local vibe http://www.elreyinnsantafe.com/one_bed.html Are you interested in a casita? These are vacation rentals by owners, small 1 bedroom SW cottage style. |
|
thanks. actually spoke to a friend who stayed at inn of governors...and am looking into it now. Also holding a reservation at the Old santa fe inn, which seemed to get good reviews and is within our price range.
