New Kaua`i budget hotel
Just opened -- The Kaua`i Palms Hotel -- with rooms starting at $65. Aimed at those who travel on a tight budget, this one's a nicely remodeled facility in downtown Lihu`e (just around the corner from Hamura Saimin):

Anyone have any recent experience with this hotel, we are looking for a budget place for 1 night before our timeshare week starts. I emailed them but they never replied. Any suggestions for other similar places on Kauai?

Bizzyb, perhaps check Garden Island Inn, also in Lihue but a bit closer to the water. It's right by the Lihue Marriott. Haven't stayed there myself, but friends have, and said it's basic but lovely...and fairly inexpensive, though not as much so as the hotel mentioned by AuntieMaria.
www.gardenislandinn.com p.s. Do you mind saying which timeshare you own?? I'm particularly interested in feedback on the Marriott Waiohai (sp?) in Poipu. Thanks. |
CaliNurse, thanks for the info. I'll check into it. Our timeshare is with Marriott but our home resort is in Marbella, Spain. We did an exchange into the Marriott Kauai Beach Club. Last time we were in Kauai we toured the Marriott Waiohai. Nice property, pool is small compared to Kauai Beach Club, but the units are all 2 bedrooms with full kitchens.

Thanks for the info on Marriott Waiohai. Last time there, my kids visited the open air bar area and liked it for that, but didn't see any rooms. The pool at the Marriott where you're staying is huge and beautiful, isn't it? If you didn't try it last time in Kauai, right around the bend from the Marriott (and
right by Garden Island Inn if you're there) is the Kalapaki Beach Hut. Nice bay view form the upstairs area.Yummy buffalo burgers,. I think someone on this site said they have good breakfasts too. Have a great week, and good luck finding the perfect inexpensive one-nighter hotel. |
