New Jersey Vacation
I'm from Hawaii and thinking about traveling to the east coast for a vacation. I hear New Jersey is pretty nice. Any suggestions? How about Atlantic City?
Go for it Ron, you'd love it there.
Whether or not AC is for you is, as they say, a matter of taste.

First, understand that the big hotels have been built on the edge of slums, which is what most of AC was before the hotels moved in.

Second, there's not much that's pretty about AC. You have the hotel/casinos, and that's about it. It IS NOT like Vegas.

The AC boardwalk is honky-tonk, too.

There are some nice beach spots in NJ, but AC isn't one of them. Again, it's a matter of taste, but if you have the impression that AC is Vegas-By-The-Sea, you'll be disappointed.
Head to either Maine, Carolinas, GA or Florida for better beaches.
If you're a troll looking to stir up an argument about Jersey, go back to playing outside.
Hawaii is one of the most overrated places on earth, so if you like it there you'll love New Jersey.
Ron, we've already established that New Jersey is a dump. No need to beat a dead horse.

Now come back when you have something more original.
Could I please just have some honest answers about some nice areas to visit? I appreciate the info. on Atlantic City. Vegas is a popular area for Hawaiians to go on vacation and I thought this may have been a East-Coast Vegas. What about Cape May or other beaches?
If you would like Vegas than you might like AC. I don't care for a AC at all. Would much prefer the wide open spaces of beaches to the south Stone Harbor and still south. Not all like wide open space you know about but for us if houses are more than a few feet away from each other this is spacious.

Have gone for beach front in Ocean City New Jersey in the 50's that area is nice. We stopped renting here when we learned that it was cheaper to rent a condo in Hawaii.

I have to say Ron I think you would be disappointed with the Jersey shore. Go look at photos on the internet. What about the pacific northwest or gaspe penninsula in Quebec province. Think this is closer to the natural beauty you are use to.

If gambeling is your focus you also have foxwoods in upstate NY. That seems to be set in a more scenic environment.
I've heard Cape May is quaint and nice. Good luck.
Ron: If you're serious, you might like Ventnor, Long Beach Island, Margate, Cape May, Avalon and Ocean City.

Contrary to the ignorant opinions of some uneducated Fodorites on this thread, the Jersey shore is a popular and enjoyable experience for many. Come visit and make the decision for yourself, or listen to the likes of those who also call Hawaii "overrated".
If Hawaii were so overrated, why are there so many threads concerning trips to Hawaii?
And my bet would be all or most of the people bashing NJ have never been there.
