NEW JERSEY SHORE WITH KIDS
 

<BR>My husband and I are planning a beach vacation for a few days in the middle of August with our two small children (one three years and one 15 months old) and are thinking about going to the Jersey Shore. I heard that Long Beach Island or Ocean City are nice and would like recommendations on places to stay and things to do.

Long Beach Island is more adult oriented with no boardwalk but great beaches. Ocean City is probably your best bet, with a boardwalk and amusements and more stimulation for a 3 year old.The beaches are pretty good and there are motels and guest houses a plenty.Better reserve ahead though! Have Fun!

I grew up at the "shore" in NJ in Ocean City many years ago. It continues to be a "shore" experience--lots of rentals for a week and some very nice large sandy beaches for the kids. The boardwalk is great fun for children----they used to have an old fashioned carousel--you can let me know if it's still there if you go. Other place might be Stone Harbor, but that's much quieter. Would not recommend Wildwood and Cape May is lovely but Victorian B&Bs which don't work for kid. HAve fun. <BR>

I've been going to Cape May with small children for 6 years. I rent out a beachfront condo from www.vrbo.com. There are alot of B&Bs that you wouldn't want to bring children to but there plenty of vacation home and condo rentals. You need to book a place in January if you're picky! Cape May has a few arcades for the little ones, miniature golf, etc. We usually take the boys to Wildwood (5 miles) for a crazy night of boardwalk fun but then get to back to peace and quiet! <BR>

I grew up going to Long Beach Island every year where several of my relatives had houses. The beaches there are great. Wherever you decide to go, however, remember to book no later than January, as everyone has said. The Jersey shore is popular in all locations. <BR>
