New Jersey - Pennsylvennia
Can someone suggest some good attractions in NJ-PA area, worth driving?
Our primary interests are photography-beautiful sceneries. We have already been to 1. LongWood gardens 2. Atlantic City 3. NewYork City 4. DC 5. Ocean City 6. PA-Rafting We loved longwood. Can someone suggest any more NJ-PA attractions? |
Here are a few NJ ideas:
Brigantine bird sanctuary - thousands of acres of undeveloped saltwater marsh, just outside of Atlantic City. Great spot for photos. Smithville - A restored colonial village and restaurant, not too far from Brigantine. Barnegat Light State Park - At the tip of Long Beach Island. Very scenic lighthouse that you can go up in, and a very nice beach. Allaire State Park - A restored village hidden away in the woods near Freehold. Batso State Park - Another restored estate and park deep in the pine barrens of south Jersey. A good picnic spot. |
I highly recommd Delaware Water Gap NRA. Not a place for solitude, but great views are available with a little bit of hiking.

Ohiopyle for rafting in PA.

New Hope, PA/Lamberton, NJ and French Creek State Park in Chester Co., PA.
|
How about Philadelphia? There is quite a bit of history and nice architecture there. For a panoramic view of downtown go to the top of the Art Museum steps. During the day, you take a tour of City Hall and go to the top of the clokctower for some amazing views.

as an original jersey girl (now displaced in ny) i reccomend the following :
1. lake apachon 2. long beach island 3. princeton nj 4. new hope 5.red bank/colts neck/rumson have fun! |
I also agree about New Hope being quaint and interesting.
If you liked Longwood Gardens, then try "Grounds for Sculpture" in Hamilton, NJ. They have a website which gives you an idea of what you'll see. But it is NOT as large as Longwood. Also just in case you are NOT familiar with NJ the previous post meant to suggest: Lake "HOPATCONG" Have fun in our "Garden State!" |
