New Itinerary Portland To Lake Tahoe

After posting a tentative itinerary, this is our revamped plan.
We are a couple from The Toronto area, huge outdoor lovers.
Aug 1 and 2 Portland and Columbia River Gorge . Staying at the Inn at Northrup Station
3 and 4 Fireside Motel Yachats
5 Requa Inn Klamath, Redwoods. Will have dinner at he Inn
6 Benbow Inn Gaberville
7 and 8 yosemite - currently one night Curry Village, One night inn at Yosemite Falls
9 and 10 Lake Tahoe. Pepper Tree Inn
11 Fly home Reno.
The Hotels are all booked, but could be changed if necessary.
Any suggestions for great hikes, restaurants activities ?
Thank You

Tons of restaurants along NW 23rd and NW 21st not far from your Portland Hotel. Serrato has great italian food and a nice happy hour. Easy to stick with the waterfall hikes with one day/afternoon in the gorge.

Do you realize it will take at least 7 hours to drive from Garberville to Yosemite - plus stops. So your two nights will only net you one full day there.

Well the plan is to get up early and go. We will be there mid afternoon. Alternatively we could not stay in Gaberville and stay somewhere enroute?

No - you really do want to stay at the Benbow -- lovely place. My point was to try to stay 3 nights at YNP.

Instead of moving from Curry Village to Yosemite Lodge at the Falls (assuming you can't get 3 nights at one or the other) . . . I'd book three nights at Yosemite View Lodge at El Portal. It is just outside the park entrance and it would be better than having to pack and move IMO. (then you can keep trying for a cancellation inside the park, since Yosemite View Lodge has a liberal cancellation policy)

What time is your flight out of Reno?

IMO you really want 3 nights since that will still only get you a little over 2 days there. (the sun sets earlier in the Valley because of the high cliffs surrounding it)

From Tahoe City to the airport takes less than an hour.

When is your trip?

You are either going to cut Yosemite very short or cut Tahoe very short . . . But you are trying to cover a LOT of territory in a very short time.

I love Tahoe (have a condo at Incline Village) but Yosemite is unique in all the world.

Agree with janisj- more time at Yosemite less at Tahoe.
Don't miss Mariposa Grove in the south end of the park.
FYI: Yachats is pronounced YA hots.

Thanks for the pronunciation tip. I was wondering about that.
Ok you have convinced me. I just called and booked Yosemite View Lodge for 3 nights. I think your point about Yosemite vs. Lake Tahoe is compelling. We come from land of a million lakes after all.
And it is probably easier to be in the same hotel outside the park than move around to various accomodations in the park.
