New Frontier in Las Vegas
Any input regarding this hotel would be appreciated.
|
We've never stayed there. It's an old hotel and not centrally located near the Fashion Mall. We do enjoy dining at Gilley's, the western themed restaurant. Very reasonable prices, lots of fun & western music, peanut shells on the floor and good happy hour.

I have never stayed there but have gambled there. It is about a 10 nimute walk from Treasure Island which is at the north end of the section of the strip with all the new hotels. It is an old casino with a big bingo room. A friend stayed there and they were not happy with the rooms compared to the strip properties. Sort of dumpy and stale is what they reported. They do have a Mexican resturaunt with great fajitas but that is the best they have to offer.
I know that sounds negative but we always seem to end up there once during our stay for the fajitas and one other quirk---plastic ponies. They table with the plastic horses that race around the felt track. My gambling buddies and I just love those and this may be the only place left that has one of those tables. Weird I know but there you go! Have a great trip! |
I have never seen it, but considered staying there until I read online (can't remember where, sorry) that it is scheduled to be demolished soon so it hasn't been kept up very well lately. I'd check tripadvisor.com to see recent reviews.

Thanks for the info. We are planning our first quick and hopefully fairly inexpensive trip to Vegas. Where have you stayed that you do recommend?
|
Will you have a car or do you want to stay on the strip?
|
I'd check out tripadvisor.com as they have very thorough reviews of hotels in all price ranges. You'll also find reviews here in the "hotels" section of fodors.com. Good luck!

For a good price you can stay at an excellent location in the middle of
the strip at the Imperial Palace. I know people will advise you not to stay there, but I visit other travel boards and there are just as many who DO recommend it. I stayed there on my last trip and I would stay there again. The room was clean. No complaints. |
Check Flamingo's website, they often have specials, and location is perfect for first visit, in the center of everything.

For frank assessments of the LV casinos, check out good ol' cheapovegas.com. I can tell you that Harrah's is pretty reasonably-priced, and Aladdin is another resort that always seems to have specials going on. Luxor's theming is almost irritatingly hokey, but I've seen rock-bottom deals there too. Does your daily paper run a Travel section on Sundays? They usually list some Vegas specials (they always do in LA area papers). I'm one of those that would typically steer you away from Imperial Palace (I found it creepy and not clean), but if gotribe's recent experience was good (places can improve!), you should consider it; the location is ideal, dead-center Strip.

I stayed there a couple of years back and it was ok. Not sure what day of the week your staying but if it's during the week you should be able to find a nicer place for very little more (Excaliber, NYNY, etc.).
