New Four Points Soho
 

Good Morning Everyone!

I am planning a trip to New York in October (isn't everyone?). Thinking about staying at the new Four Points in Soho in order to bolster my Starwood points again. This is only my second visit to NYC and I'm not familiar with the area. Address is 66 Charlton. Rate seems awfully good ($245) makes me wonder if its out of the way.

Any help is appreciated!

What do you mean by "out of the way"? Soho is not in midtown so if you're comparing it to a midtown hotel, it's not as central. But it's a block and a half to a subway stop. If you want to see how long it will take to get to places you intend visiting, use hopstop.com Put in the hotel address as your starting point.

I should have added I would be happy to stay there. I'd just be careful about a reservation that's too close to their opening date. It's typical for those to get pushed forward and then you might be without a room or placed somewhere you'd rather not stay. If your travel date is very close to their opening date, I'd make a backup reservation somewhere else that can be canceled the day before.

I do know it's not in midtown but wanted to make sure that it is near a subway stop and and that is really in "Soho" not just technically South of Houston. I live in Charleston, that is technically South of Houston. NOT to suggest that a hotel would stretch the truth (ha!ha!) Or as you mention overestimate their ability to open. It is scheduled for to open the weekend of the 10th so you are right that I would need a backup!

It is on the western side of Soho but still near some of the most popular restaurants there like Blue Ribbon Sushi, Aquagrill and Fiamma.

Here's another "trick." Map the location on maps.google.com and you can use the "search nearby" function to find restaurants or anything else. You can also see photos of the area but remember they're not current (so your hotel is not yet built in their photo, but you'll see it's a tall narrow building).

Thank you - I have taken your suggestions and done some research and think I will be fine with the area. I don't think I 'm going to love the hotel but it will be interesting to see. I'll definitely report on it!
