New England Ski & Stay Spots???

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are trying to book a ski vacation for MLK Weekend. We would like to spend the long weekend at a ski resort in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine. There are a couple of catches here, though...

1. Ideally, we want to rent something that is a step above a "hotel room". A suite or condo would be ideal, even though it carries the high price. We like having the room after skiing and would love to have a fireplace.

2. We want to be at the mountain. In other words, no morning driving to ski. We want that option of going right to skiing from the unit and be able to head back to the unit during the day without needing the car.

I know that many mountains in the NE area have these "ski-in" condos/suites available but knowing which mountains to look at and how to book them is not as easy as it seems. I thought I would turn to the forum for help since you have always been so helpful before.

Obviously, we are looking to book sooner rather than later since the holiday weekend is already selling out in some places.

Check out Sugarloaf Mt. in Maine. They have what you are looking for and are even running specials for MLK weekend. Try their web site and click on the map to see location of lodging and click on packages to find the weekend.

I would head for Stowe, VT. The Stowe Mountain Resort (www.stowe.com) sounds like just what you are looking for in the way of lodging, and they offer several skiing packages. The village of Stowe is quintessential Vermont, with good restaurants and shops as well.

I agree that the new development at Stowe would be ideal (if expensive). The village does have good places to eat and is quaint.

Sugarbush is also an option. They did a lot of building a few years ago and have condos and the like. There's less of a village, but Waitsfield/Warren have some really good restaurants (The 1824 House, The Common Man are 2). If you're skiers (no snowboarders allowed) you can also check out Mad River Glen which is our "home mtn" even tho' we live in PA. It's definitely old school and quirky - and has the only single chair lift left in the US.

MLK weekend is definitely the height of the season, so be prepared for crowds and no discounts.

Check out the condos at Jackson Gore in Okemo. They are on the base of the slopes.

It has hotel amenities with the condo living. Pricey! You bet!

MLK= Ski Crowds....Probably most of that weekend is booked by now anyway.

Let us know how you made out!

Hi, probably booked up by now, but Bretton Woods in the White Mountains in New Hampshire has some condos on the mountain. Good luck!!

For New Hampshire, go to www.skinh.com. Check on places like Loon Mountain, Cannon Mountain, Bretton Woods, etc. all of which are in the White Mountains area of NH. The website will give you more complete info. on these and other areas of NH too, but the best trails and condo/ski areas are further north in NH.

You didn't mention if you are already in New England or flying or driving to the area. If you fly into Manchester, NH (MHT) the White Mountain ski areas are roughly a 90 minute drive from the airport.

Hey there,

You've probably already booked for MLK weekend - however my wife and I recently had a great ski and stay experience in Lincoln, NH (Loon South Mountain). The package included a 3 night stay and two free lift tickets all for near 200 dollars total. The South Mountain resort also provided us with a great shuttle service to Loon. I believe the package should still be ongoing here on Vacation-Offer : http://www.vacation-offer.com/special/new/41

Hope you find a good place! Enjoy

Im seconding the suggestion of Sugarloaf. The conditions are excellent there and accomodations are as well.

Just wondering where you ended up and if you can report on how it went.
