New city hotel and spa
 

Id like to visit newyork city with my daughter for the first time and i'm a little nervous. I'd like to get a nice hotel with a spa for a decent price. traveling in april or may . any sugestions

You hae to qualify what you mean by a "reasonable" price - specifically in dollars. Typically only more upscale hotels have spas - and upscale in NYC is not cheap.

Unless you just are willing to throw a lot of money at a hotel, I would ditch the idea of a hotel with spa. There are lots of good day spas all over the city, you can easily go to one close to your hotel, and the price will be very significantly less than a spa inside a hotel.

April (along with October) is VERY HIGH season in NYC for hotel rates, with May not far behind it regarding price.

Start searching for hotels in your price range now and get one reserved (with no cancellation fee). Then start looking at travelzoo.com and other hotel discount sites and see what deals you can find and if you can get a better deal than what you have booked.

As nytraveler said above, what is a "decent price" for you?

While it's true that the nicest hotel spas tend to be in very upscale hotels, there are a number of what would be considered moderately priced (for NYC) hotels with inhouse spas including the Affinia Dumont, Affinia 50, Benjamin and the Eventi which is newish and very nice. There are also loads of day spas if there's a hotel with better price that you'd prefer.

PS hotel prices do fluctuate by date. I think you'll find April prices (except around Easter) to be lower than May which is a very popular time with lots of graduations. The end of May near the Memorial Day weekend can sometimes find good prices though. Oyster.com is one website that will list hotels with in house spas.

I've been shopping for a hotel every single day for a week, including Hotwire and Priceline. I can't find exactly what I want, but I did book The Kimberly, after going over ALL the details of the room, for $269 in later April. Valet parking price played in to my plan, as it is $30; WiFi is $12.95/

room has a coffee maker, fridge, etc. Sort of a mini kitchenette, which I like.

I saw good rates at the Doubletree and Hampton on 35th St, but I don't like the street.

None of these, of course, has a spa. All have good rating from the various booking engines and on tripadvisor.

I believe tripadvisor will let you enter a spa into their search engine.

Finally, I have a cancellable reservation because I might wait until the last minute and give a try to Hotwire and Priceline closer in.

In the $330 per night range, there are a slew of hotels available. I didn't want to go that high.
