net reservations make you save money?

I am wondering how many of you think having your holiday organized on the net makes you save money..You think the prices offered to you are cheaper than normal rates?

I've found that looking on the net for vacation packages, airfares, hotels, etc. is not that much cheaper than booking through a travel agent, & a lot of times the net fares are too restrictive. I just stick to the net for information only.

You still have to be a good shopper. Example: Expedia represents that on certain hotels they have negotiated "special discount rates." They then require full payment at the time you make the reservation, with severe cancellation penalties. Ironically, I have gone to the hotel's website itself and was quoted the same, or in one case, a lesser rate. And without my credit card being charged for the stay and the usual cancellation policies in effect.

I find that I can save a ton of money on hotels by using the information on the following forum:

http://pub4.ezboard.com/bpricelineandexpediabidding

Priceline seems to save some people money on airfare and car rentals, too.

Usual disclaimers apply--no vested interest in the Web site mentioned above, etc., etc. I just find it to be a great resource for getting hotel rooms on the cheap.

well this is our job..we deal with holiday organizations. so now you compare the rpices with 4 and 3 star hotels and tell me if you save money on email reservations or not:

Hotel Batihan http://www.hotelbatihan.com with prices starting from 16USD including breakfast and dinner

Hotel Surtel http://www.kusadasihotels.com/surtel with prices starting from 14USD including breakfast and dinner

Royal Hotel
http://www.kusadasihotels.com/royal with prices starting from 9USD

So now you tell me..if you go in the hotel and ask for the prices you think they will give you the ones i offered to you?

NO WAY

Net does make you save money on hotel reservations.
