Thanks Cathy, that's our first choice if we can come up with four tickets. Howard, if we can't get tickets for Mama Mia, I think we'll try the Full Monty. Our family saw the Lion King in London last summer so we'd like to see something different (it was wonderful). I did a search and found Broadway.com. Do you know anything about them? Matinee tickets were much less than evening. Also, do you think it might be easier to get tickets for a matinee. My husband and I actually were able to get tickets for The Producer many, many months ago and are coming up later this year with the sole purpose of seeing it. That's one I'm really looking forward to!

If you are staying at the Park Lane, you might want to check with the concierge and see if they can get you tickets to the hard to see shows.

My two daughters and I went to new York in March and saw Phantom of the Opera. It was okay but a girlfriend and I went back to New York in May. We had great seats for Beauty and the Beast. I know my two daughters 17+20 would've loved the show too. I am returning to New York mid October and I have seats for Beauty and the Beast (again)for my eleven year old, my husband and I. Can't wait !

Sal, I have not been that impressed with Broadway.com. I lean towards playbill.com, where over the past couple years, I've been able to get tickets at a discount.
However, for The Fully Monty, it's doubtful you'll find discount tickets unless you wait in line on the day of the performance you want to go to at TKTS in Times Square of the World Trade Center.
And, yes, matinee tickets are cheaper and Wednesday matinee is often easier to get tickets.

Another county heard from: Full Monty is fun...but go to Playbill.com and look at what is showing..they also have deals and write ups about the plays. TKTS if you have time to wait...I am not sure Big Apple tours is still in existence, but if it is...don't...the concierge at your hotel can pick a tour for you....just wear walking shoes.

Thanks for the words of advise. I'll look at Playbill and I've also put in a call to the concierge at the Parklane. Here's another question. We can get tickets for Blue Man Group (parka seating, no less, oh boy) at the Astor. I know there has been discussion on the forum about the show but I can't get the search function to work. Is it worth it to carve time out of our weekend to see it? This would be in addition to one of the other shows we have discussed.

If you can get tickets in that section your kids will love it. It's very funky and off beat.

There is a recent post here by apc "New York Trip Report Part 1" that has an excellent report of his/her? recent trip to NYC. It's several posts long, but very informative and very interesting. Perhaps you can get some ideas from it?
